What is Certified Legal Nurse Consultant (CLNC)?

A certified legal nurse consultant is a registered nurse that has been professionally trained in legal nurse consulting.  The CLNC® Certification is the official certification of the National Alliance of Certified Legal Nurse Consultants.  The CLNC certification can only be obtained thru the Vickie Milazzo Institute.  

 

Legal Nurse Consulting Services Provided: 

  • Screen cases for merit.
  • Locate Expert Witnesses.
  • Review Expert Witness reports.
  • Review medical records. 
  • Give the Good, Bad and the Ugly (GBU) about each case.
  • Develop written chronological reports for the attorney.
  • Organize, tab, and paginate medical records .
  • Summarize, translate, and interpret medical records.
  • Serve as liaison between attorney and healthcare providers, consultants, and witnesses.
  • Assist the attorney and prepare interrogatories, cross or direct examination questions, deposition questions.
  • Define applicable standards of care.
  • Define deviations from applicable standards of care.
  • Assess alleged damages and/or injuries, causes, and contributing factors.
  • Identify and recommend potential defendants.
  • Identify types, locate, and communicate with expert witnesses.
  • Interview plaintiff and defense clients, key witnesses and experts.
  • Attend depositions, trials, mock trials,  review panels, arbitration and mediation hearings.
  • Conduct literature search and integrate into case analysis.
  • Assist with Medicare reimbursement cases related to liability.
